Rimutaka Forest Park is a protected area near Wellington, New Zealand. It covers 220 square kilometres (85 sq mi), encompassing the Catchpool Valley and the Orongorongo Valley at the southern end of the Rimutaka Range. Established in October 1988, the park contains several short walks and five huts that can be booked and accessed by longer bush tramps.

A population of North Island brown kiwi has been established in the northern part of the Rimutaka Forest Park, protected by a dog exclusion area.

Getting There: The Park is easily accessed by road from Wellington or Lower Hutt. Simply take the hill road to Wainuiomata and follow all the signs to the Coast Road/Rimutaka Forest Park and then turn left at the Catchpool Stream access road into the park.

Accommodation: On the Wairarapa side of the park, two basic DOC (Department of Conservation) huts are available on a first come, first served basis. On the Poneke side of the park you can either stay at the Catchpool Valley campground or book one of the various huts in the Orongorongo Valley of the Rimutaka Forest Park.
