- Getting There: Kutai National Park is one of the easy accessible parks on Kalimantan. You reach it from Bontang, industry city north of Samarinda. To get to Bontang take bus from Lempake station or take boat from Seberang station, both in Samarinda. At the PHPA office in Bontang you can get permit, guides and advice about tours through the park.

- Nearest Railway Station: Samarinda International Airport is the only major gateway to the national park.[2] There are two main point for tourist access to the park. Sangkima is on the road between Sangatta and Bontang and thus is accessible by car or bus.
