This brewpub in Koramangala occupies a large area. There are various sections; you can hang around the bustling back-lit bar, have an al fresco experience or take a seat on the terrace upstairs. The music is likeable and there’s a happy buzz about the place.

XOOX has one of the largest selections of craft beers in town — eight in all. Order a tray of samplers and pick your quaff. I had the Hefeweizen, which is mildly fruity and pleasant. There’s also a crisp apple cider.

I started the evening with the Deconstructed Greek Salad. I’m not sure I got the deconstruction aspect of it, but it had good quality ingredients, including a pile of greens, with a feta mousse adding a sharp tang. We then had the Root & Greens Dim Sum. It was well executed and a crowning of crisp fried leeks gave the dumplings a tasty lift. The Miso Marinated Prawns and Greens Tempura were greasy and the tempura batter wasn’t quite the real thing.

For mains, my companion ordered the Stuffed Tandoori Chicken Breast. It was stuffed with spinach and mascarpone, and came with a makhani sauce, making for a dish where all the parts came together really well. My next order was the Chicken Katsu – a pankocrusted fillet of chicken on a bed of Japanese rice and greens with a rich curry-flavored sauce served on the side. It was simple, the flavors were clean and it was utterly comforting.

The Tres Leches Cake we shared for dessert was pleasing without being wow. They’d used condensed milk straight out of the can and it was too sweet.
