The Vineyard is a recently opened multi-cuisine restaurant in Bodakdev. This restaurant flaunts beautiful decor and specializes in Kerala food.

Accessible from the first floor veranda of a building, this restaurant has a pleasant entrance foyer with pastel shades, artworks and a carved wooden screen. The interiors are done up with climbing stems along the walls and the ceilings hung with grapes, planters and motifs to go with the name. It also has a dining room for banquets, parties and private dinners.

Vineyard offers fairly good Indian starters.The Makhmali Chicken was moist and subtly spiced with a delicate creamy sauce. On an earlier visit I had enjoyed the Galouti Kebab which had the sought-after melt-in your mouth texture, but this time it did not live up to that standard being rather grainy and chunky. The Chicken Angara had the earthy and rustic texture one expects from chicken tikka. The tandoori paneer and mushroom dishes were also acceptable, but the Indianised Chinese starters were very salty and overpowered by soy sauce, and the pork and chicken ones were a bit chewy. The Crispy Veg was acceptable.
Kerala-cuisine is the forte of The Vineyard. The Kerala Fish Curry had a well-made kingfish cooked with masala, and the Mutton Masala was delicious. The Pork Masala had well-marinated and tender pork cooked with Kerala style spices. The Veg Stew was fairly good but they did not have appams on offer that day to go with it so I had it with rice.
I ended with Coffee ice-cream – light as air beads of ice-cream.

The Vineyard is a relaxing place for Indian starters, Kerala mains and some international dishes, but some dishes are not consistently good.
