There’s a lot of wood going on around The Smoothie Bar. Rustic furniture, nicely finished. It makes you feel completely comfortable. I watch a couple seated on floor cushions with a board game in front of them. The place is quiet this afternoon. Smoothie Bar offers upcoming performers an opportunity to launch themselves here, too.
If you are into road watching, this is the place to be, as this place is on the first floor and overlooks Eldam’s Road, with lots of activity surrounding people driving the wrong way.

I must tell you this, Smoothie Bar has a huge following in Pondicherry, and an excellent selection of smoothies. There’s one (or two) for everyone. Here I am looking at the menu, and cannot decide, till I spot… Anti-age. Now, this one I could get addicted to, I think, as I sip on the nutty, sweet, grainy and absolutely divine smoothie. I find the sweetness comes from dates, jack fruit and banana (not sugar). Any vestiges of guilt I could’ve had is gone. For the lactose intolerant, there’s the nut milk option and is equally delicious. Whether it would make me look 20 years younger, I don’t know, but a breakfast like this is definitely worth considering.
My next smoothie, called Green Gold intrigues me because of its name and the fact that after all that nuttiness, I need some vitamins. Spinach, lettuce, green grapes, green apples, ginger (making up the gold part) lemon and basil. Give me my daily vitamins and minerals this way, and I will happily have them. I like that it smells healthy and nothing has been filtered out. The slipperiness of the green grapes makes each mouthful filled with anticipation.
Time to eat something. Veg Nachos. These belong to the regular food category, with regular calories. Still, I’m optimistic because of the all the goodness of earlier. Then, the waiter tells me the nachos are outsourced. But the salsa is home-made, and cream cheese is cream cheese (outsourced).
Croquet Monsieur has dollops of rich creamy bechamel sauce, chicken ham and is warm. I find the cheesy herbiness of this brown bread toasted sandwich quite charming. In fact, the bread melts in the mouth.

They do a lot of deliveries, so the service slow, as this place has only one person doing all the blending, cooking and packing, with one service person. When walk-in diners increase they would need more staff.
