The Pink Door, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad: About
Decor
As the name suggests, pink is the signature colour of the restaurant. At the entrance is a pink door like structure with The Pink Door inscribed on it. The wall inside is spanned by cut-outs of pink-clothed dancers. The tables have a woody-colour with pink upholstered chairs or settees around them. There is also a private table under a chandelier.
Food
We started with the Palak Patta Kurmura Chaat which was excellent the spinach had retained its structure, not becoming soggy in the curd. The Chole Samosa Chaat was piquant with the curd and tamarind adding a touch of tartness to the taste. Veg Croquettes came neatly presentedin individual glasses with dips at the bottom of each glass. The 11-inch Bocconcini Basil Tomato Pizza is one of their specials. The Basil Paneer Tikka was presented on charcoal in a grill designed to resemble an iron.
The menu is largely with many popular dishes like Thai dishes, Amritsari Chhole, Paneer Korma, Baked Lasagne, Veg Au Gratin and Indian style Chinese. The Khow Seuy comes in a good-sized bowl with a partitioned box on the side containing condiments.
For the main course, we tried the Baked Malai Kofta with melt-in-your-mouth koftas in gravy that was subtle and creamy. The breads include Paneer Chur Chur Naan, Aloo Chur Chur Naan, Stuffed Paratha, Hariyali Roti, Cheese Naan, Garlic Naan and Malabari Paratha. There are rice dishes like Kofta Biryani, besides Masala Khichdi and Baked Khichdi. The biryani comes in a traditional embossed metal vessel.
The desserts are displayed in a glass case. The Tiramisu and Mousse were pretty good. A house special is the Jalebi Rabri, which comes in a globular glass bottle. Plus and minus The Pink Door by Parosa has mostly popular dishes on its menu, some of them tweaked, but scores well in the plating and presentation of the food.
