The Deccan Bid Capital, FC Road, Pune: Decor
The walls of the outdoor section are filled with a vertical garden. The wooden benches and tables, combined with the garden create an ambiance perfect for an all-day cafe and bar. The indoor section is extremely well decorated. They have used a mix of vintage wooden chairs, tables, leather sofas which complement the exposed brick walls. They have installed screens that display the menu with the bidding prices. Another fun addition is the ‘Live’ feed which displays your order along with your winning bid.
The Deccan Bid Capital, FC Road, Pune: Food
The new-age concept of bidding for your order is done through a easy-to-download mobile application. You can bid for drinks and even food items at cost-effective prices and end up getting great discount on the order. The concept sounds a bit confusing, but the actual experience of bidding and ordering was a lot of fun and our dedicated server greatly helped with this process.
The food menu is well curated and features a variety of items from across the world in addition to vast range of Indian dishes. We started with the chicken khurchan tacos. Crunchy tacos were filled generously with chicken khurchan and topped with sour cream. Next was the innovative broccoli malai tikka. The broccoli florets were marinated in a typical malai tikka marinade and grilled till lightly charred. This was probably the first time I enjoyed broccoli so much. The crispy honey chili lotus root was expectedly a crowd pleaser and kept even the non-vegetarians happy. Being pork lovers we ordered the chili BBQ spare ribs. The pork was cooked to perfection and the accompanying BBQ sauce was sweet, spicy and smoky. The pork was topped with crispy lentils which added that crunchy element to the dish. This one is highly recommended. I truly believe that bacon is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. No surprise that we started with the bacon and caramelized onions flatbread. A thin crusty flatbread, topped with cheese, crispy bacon rashers and sweet caramelized onions, this was one of our favorite dishes on the menu. We also ordered the wild mushrooms, jalapeno and scarmoza flatbread, which was equally delicious. The patty of the chickpea and coriander veggie burger was delicious, but the burger lacked an accompanying sauce and made it dry.
In the mains, we ordered the Sri Lankan prawn curry. The coconut curry was mildly spicy and the prawns were cooked well. Served with a portion of coconut rice, this was a great hearty dish. When the menu says Chandani Chowk Ka butter chicken, the pressure on delivering a perfect butter chicken is extremely high. Kudos to the chef, the butter chicken was rich, perfectly spicy, not overtly sweet and extremely delicious. The smoked flavor which if often missing was quite pronounced. We teamed it with butter naan which I feel is the perfect accompaniment with a good butter chicken.
The tiramisu was served in a ceramic planter and topped with shaved chocolate and mint leaves, to resemble a potted plant with mud. The presentation was impressive and the tiramisu was smooth, creamy and delicious.
