Based on ambience, if you picked a microbrewery to go to, The Bier Library in Koramangala would surely be one of the top picks. It has the luxury of space, the exposed-brick structure wrapping itself around pretty water features. The al fresco areas are perfect for balmy summer evenings. It’s also a pleasant spot to be on Sunday after-noons, lingering over brunch.
The craft beers here get the thumbs up from those in the know. The Belgian Wit here, with its fruity aroma and citrus notes, is an ideal warm weather beer. If more complex beers are to your taste, the Phase Stout — medium bodied with notes of coffee and dark chocolate —should please you. Besides the beers, the bar shakes up an interesting range of cocktail such as the refreshing Mel-o-Tini — concocted from gin, aperol, fresh watermelon and a citrus twist. The food menu is long, with enough to please all tastes and suit all moods. I like the bar bites here; you can choose from Bombay Mini Sandwich, Chatpata Chilli Paneer and Anda Masala Bhurjee. These are unfussy, crowd-pleasers, just right for when you want something to nibble on with your pint.
Then there are all the brewpub staples from Loaded Nachos to Lehsooni Paneer Tikka, Crumbed Chicken Tenders and Mutton Seekh. I particularly like the Naga Chilli Roast Pork, cooked well and spiced just right. If you are in a large group, consider ordering the sharing platters; you can choose from a Fries Basket of Chicken that contains tenders, wings, masala kebab and chicken popcorn, or the vegetarian Indian Platter with paneer tikka, malai broccoli, pepper mushroom and chilli paneer served with chutneys. These aren’t particularly elegant or sophisticated, but are very good accompaniments to an evening of beer drinking with the gang. I’m not a big fan of sizzlers, but the Bier Library ones are popular with Herb Grilled Chicken, Teriyaki Pulled Pork and Roast Sliced Lamb served smoking and sizzling. There are vegetarian options such as Paneer Shashlik. My pick for a main course would be the North East Style Pork Curry or the Rajwadi Laal Maas. The pizzas are crowd-pleasers, too. I quite enjoyed the Streaky Bacon and Prawn one.
