Located on the bustling Jubilee Hills stretch, Taro Restaurant & Bar has gained a reputation for its innovative approach to pan-Asian cuisine, offering a contemporary twist to traditional dishes. Decor:
The atmosphere at Taro is refreshing and intimate. It is a very spacious, classy and modern setting with an oriental touch. The restaurant has both indoor seating, which is very subtle and outdoor seating, which is lively and surrounded by vegetation. The varied seating options, extensive usage of wood, paintings, and a few abstract works give a cozy feel to the ambience. And the perfectly spaced seating ensures that there is no dearth of privacy here.
Food: Taro, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad
The menu features a diverse selection of traditional dishes from various Asian countries. However, what sets this establishment apart is the chef’s innovative approach, as he skillfully incorporates his own creations to transform traditional dishes into tantalizing and captivating culinary experiences. I started my meal with the customary edamame sea salt along with refreshing som tam salad. These were both were good options to start with, as the edamame sea salt is not to be missed. I followed this up with crab California with fish roe temaki and asparagus, cucumber, and plum uramaki rolls. The temaki was decent, but the uramaki was outstanding for my palate though my friend couldn’t appreciate it due to sourness. Apart from these, some of the dishes that are worth trying are dimsums, creamy truffle mushroom sheng Jian bao, spicy salmon, spicy shiitake urumaki rolls, crispy turnip cake. And for the main course, Singapore chicken curry rice, tenderloin massaman curry rice, sliced pork buta shoga yaki, and kimchi fried rice are noteworthy. Though the dessert section sounded quite exciting, it could not live up to my expectations. The honey shibuya toast box with matcha ice cream, seasonal fruits, sugar candy, and crackers was a bit disappointing. The toast box was just a piece of bread, and I could not find any seasonal fruits other than apples, bananas, and kiwi which I’m sure are available throughout the year. The only saving grace was the matcha ice cream. This restaurant is also known for its extensive selection of beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, spirits, and beers. Alcoholic or non-alcoholic, it caters to the needs of every person.
Service:
The one area which has room for improvement is the service. It is not terrible, but it would be better if the servers paid more attention to the tables. Other than that, the overall dining experience was great.
