This new restaurant on NIBM Road will charm you with its food, but the tardy service might leave a bad aftertaste.

A bit of whimsy is at play here. The decor – Alice in Wonderland comes to Goa – is replete with quirky quotes, hand-painted Portuguese tiles and Mario Miranda murals adorning the walls, and colorful furnishing. Divided into two floors, the bright and vibrant restaurant makes for a good spot for a hearty dinner or even a round of drinks with some Goan appetizers.

The focus is on Goan fare and it is highly recommended that you try some of it here. The Chicken Cafreal — chicken pieces grilled with a delicious green masala and then tossed in the same masala, is delicious, to say the least. They don’t skimp on portions here; the half portion can double up as a light meal for two. The pav, their take on the Goa poee is slightly sour than what you get at the sunshine state, but is great to mop up the masala with. Another starter that will make you reach for seconds is the Shack Style Beef Fry. Thin slices of roasted, almost melt-in-your mouth meat, tossed with onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes and subtly spiced — this one is the perfect to pair with a round of beers, or have it as it is.
Other stunners of the night included a Prawn Curry with plump prawns served with red rice. The silky coconut curry delicately flavoured with kokum was sublime. Order this one without batting an eyelid. But our night wasn’t without its share of misses. The menu focuses on sizzlers and there is plenty to choose from, but the one we ordered — the Tea Smoked Roast Chicken definitely didn’t rock our boat. The 7-Spiced Potato with Korean barbeque sprinkles, boiled baby potatoes tossed in a sweet, spicy sauce was just about alright.And the Veg Caldinho Curry, though luscious with all the coconut milk in the curry, was sweet. Of the desserts, the Sizzling Bebinca with ice cream would have fared much better if they served a slice of Bebinca (a layered pudding) warm instead of on a sizzling plate.

The food, especially the Goan fare, is delicious. The portions are good for sharing and the quality of meat / seafood used is ace. However, what is not up to the mark is the service. Long wait time to get the dishes, order mix-ups and instances where appetizers arrive just before desserts, mars the whole dining experience.
