In recent times, regional Indian food is rising in popularity due to its lightness compared to the thick gravies of North Indian dishes. The crisp texture, vibrant flavours and a contemporary taste is what sets the regional delicacies apart at Sainma, while retaining their nativity.

Decor:

True to its name the decor at Sainma is filled with subtle references to our favourite movies. They have both indoor and alfresco seating; their alfresco has a projector-screen running yesteryear’s songs. As soon as you enter the indoor section, you will be treated with an impressive display of movie memorabilia, which is visible across the restaurant. A plethora of photo frames of movies posters, vintage transistors, gramophone, old cameras, clap-boards, movie rolls and other knick-knacks adorn the walls. The ambience is warm and cordial. It’s rare to find a restaurant with such a huge parking lot, unique theme and great local fare with a relaxing setup.

They have a big menu but the Sainma Specialties section, which is specially crafted by the promoter himself, stands out with 27 specialties. After a close examination we ordered stuffed crab, corn cheese kurkure rolls, prawns fry, and pandumirchi kodi kebab from the starters. The stuffed crab, with crab meat tossed in simple spices and stuffed on the inside of a crab shell, was impressive both in terms of taste as well as ease of eating. Corn and cheese stuffed into a roll and deep-fried made for a classic combination. The prawn fry, made with small shrimps and was decent.

The chicken kebab, marinated in robust spices and tandoored to perfection, was delicious. It had a melt-in-mouth texture and every bite was satisfying. After having the starters, we ordered pachimirchi kodi pulao, bommidala pulusu and bagara rice. The pulao was spicy but delicious, with the right amount of meat to rice ratio. Bommidala pulusu was a perfect combination of sourness and spice. Apricot delight is as good as it can be with an ideal balance of ingredients. It was very tasty and worth the hype.
