It’s always interesting to see people weave magic with desserts. The newest entrants to the game operate out of a studio in Kalyani Nagar.

Chic and playful, the decor at Piatto is in sync with the desserts they offer. A bright and spacious studio, the glass display showcasing the specials of the day takes the center stage here.

The desserts here are pretty as a picture, but the pièce de résistance, for me, is the newly-introduced range of sorbets. Perfect for the current weather, these scoops are absolutely smashing and probably the best the city has to offer right now. Start off with a delightful pucker-inducing Lime sorbet, which also works as a great palate cleanser. For something less tart than lime, but equally impactful – go for raspberry, which works even better if you pair it with a slightly nutty hazelnut chocolate. The smooth dark chocolate with a salty finish is another great option.
The raspberry chocolate is a good-looking entremet. Coated with a glistening maroon glaze, the milk chocolate and raspberry mousse with raspberry compote center; this one, unfortunately, looks way better than it tastes. While not disappointing, it wasn’t anything to write home about either. Much better in comparison was their take on opera (an almond sponge cake soaked in coffee syrup). Of the macarons, the Paan seemed to be a hot-favorite – they were sold out by the time we got to ordering. But of the ones we triedsea salt, mint chocolate, snickers, only the snickers passed the muster.
It’s not all sweet business, though. They also have a small menu of savories comprising of sandwiches and salads. The barley salad, slightly creamy in texture and dressed in a lemon vinaigrette is a knockout. The chickpeas salad with a dukkah (Mediterranean spice-mix) dressing and chunks of roasted sweet pumpkin is another great bet. Wash it all down with a tall glass of Vietnamese coffee made with condensed milk and strong coffee.

Go and get yourself a scoop or three of their gelatos. The other entremets, though gorgeous to look at are not exceptional to taste.
