Miso Sexy, Indiranagar, Bangalore: About
Miso Sexy adds to the bustle – not to mention the weekend traffic – on 12th Main, Indiranagar. The space has been carved out of the humongous Daddy. One part of this bar and Asian eatery looks over the street. The ceiling, with brightly coloured frills, contrasts with the otherwise muted colour palette. Seating is comfortable.
Much like the setting, a lot of thought and effort has gone into making the food and drink menus Instagram-worthy. Look around and most customers are clicking away at a cocktail or posing for a selfie. Some things on the menu taste as good as they look. The Geisha is a pleasing cocktail, concocted from a mix of gin, lime juice and kafir lime liqueur which gives it lovely citrus notes. Asian aromatics are also at play in the Sexy Sour, with its galangal-infused bourbon.
The baos are a signature item at Miso Sexy. I thoroughly enjoyed the Roast Pork Bao, which was shaped and decorated to be a cute piggy. The roast meat benefits from a dark, sweet char sui sauce.
The dim sum is equally well done and for vegetarians there’s the Spicy Classic Mushroom Dumplings with a filling of shiitake, button mushrooms, black fungus and water chestnuts for crunch.
Also on offer is a selection of sushi and nigiri and you won’t go wrong with the Prawn Tempura Uramaki, of which you can order portions of 4 or 8 pieces.
There are other light small plates like Steamed Edamame with either salt or ginger and Water Chestnut Corn, which is corn fritters dusted with spice. One of the dishes that Miso Sexy does really well is the Crispy Sambal Fish, river sole spiced up with a Sriracha chilli sambal; the condiment complements the fish nicely.
You can wrap up an evening of cocktails and small plates with a bowl of Chilli Oil Noodles and, maybe, the simple Chilli Bean Chicken.
