Mahamudra, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad: Decor
Away from the hustle and bustle of the Jubilee Hills’ busy roads, this restaurant resonates peace and tranquility. Surrounded by a lot of greenery, this restaurant is housed in a independent bungalow along with an ethnic craft and merchandise store and a yoga studio. Its interiors have an old-fashioned and rustic feel. The wooden chairs and tables, the colour combination on the walls and the soothing music in the background, create the perfect mood for a relaxed dining experience. Jaggi Vasudev, aka Sadhguru’s philosophies hung on the walls too are sure to grab your attention.
Mahamudra, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad: Food
Mahamudra serves subtle and nutritious vegetarian food replete with the necessary fibers and vitamins to revitalize the body. Each dish is exquisitely crafted by Meena Thennappan. They serve a refreshing welcome drink on arrival. The menu comprises mostly of South Indian options with an emphasis on health. They also have plenty of salads and soups on the menu which are both nutritious and tasty. Their Mahamudra Wheat Thali is a popular choice with all wheat-based (roti, pulao, bisi bele, curd) items. The thali consists of three salads — lentil, fruit and vegetable, apart from the usual fare (gravies to rasam) along with Indian bread and vada. Their dessert of the day, that was prepared with jackfruit, banana and lentils, simply blew my mind. The menu also includes a variety of idlis and dosas for breakfast and lunch. During evenings, they serve snacks — medu vada, sambar vada, idli wedges, bhajji platter, ulundhu paniyaram, parappu kozhukattai and more.
