Kylin Experience, a brand synonymous with luxe dining, marked their presence in Chandigarh in the year 2013. They have earned the distinction of a swish restaurant, serving quality pan-Asian food several times over since, initial teething issues notwithstanding. The restaurant is spacious with ample seating and is smartly styled. Their menu showcases popular dishes and cooking styles of the far-eastern region–sushi, dumplings, teppanyaki, bowl meals et al–and has by and large stood the test of authenticity. Some of my preferred dishes here include the Burmese noodle soup Khow Suey, Green Thai Curry, Teppanyaki Roast Lamb, Spicy Salmon Sushi Roll, and Chicken Sui Mai.
Kylin Experience: Elante Mall, Chandigarh – Food
An impromptu celebration had me scrolling through their online menu recently. Each one of those gathered ordered a favourite dish and we ended up with a random yet enjoyable dinner spread. Chicken Khow Suey was a popular pick that evening (I find it travels well), followed by Chicken Kung Pao, and a portion each of Veg and Chicken Fried Rice. The aggregator we’d chosen for placing our order did not provide their choice of desserts, so that had to be foregone. When dining-in though, I’m quite partial to their Date Roll with Ice Cream.
Plus & Minus:
The order arrived well-packaged and warm enough to plate right away. The portions were sizable and we had quite some leftover. The Khow Suey was as good to taste as I recalled from an earlier visit; the accompanying texture and flavor enhancing condiments generously included. The stirfried Kung Pao with its underlying nuttiness had just the right amount of sweet to balance the spice component. While the smoky burnt flavor of the fried rice (grainy and almost grease-free to touch) was perfect. Both an appetizing and pocket-friendly celebration; can one ask for more in these trying times?
