Hard Rock Cafe, Whitefield, Bangalore: Decor
Bengaluru gets its second Hard Rock Cafe and it’s in Whitefield in the vicinity of ITPL. If it lacks the vintage charm of the St. Mark’s Road outlet, here there’s the attraction of a large outdoor deck surrounded by greenery. Inside, the tones are warm and music memorabilia lights up the space, a signature Hard Rock touch. There’s a high stage for performances and this is a great place to take in some live music.
Hard Rock Cafe, Whitefield, Bangalore: Food
Hard Rock Cafe has an excellent reputation for its cocktails and the LIIT (₹349 during happy hours, from 4 pm to 8 pm) lives up to that. The Classic Nachos are popular here, but I was told they were unavailable, as they had run out and the nachos had to come from Mumbai. Ditto for the Creamy Spinach Dip, which comes with tortilla chips. I had to settle then for the Wings and very good they were, with the blue cheese dip that’s served alongside.
We then had the Whiskey Bacon Jam Sliders, listed under starters, but which are hearty enough to be a small meal. This will hit the spot for meat lovers, with juicy patties enlivened by the sweet bacon jam.
Sated with that, we could manage only dessert. The Homemade Apple Cobbler was a massive square – yes, portions are American size – and would easily feed four. The topping was soggy and the apple filling wasn’t the fruity gooeyness I would have liked it to be.
Service:
Service is warm, friendly, efficient, which is the Hard Rock style.
Plus & Minus:
The ambience is lovely and the music is always spot-on. I know it’s all American style, but I find the portion sizes overwhelming. There should be a choice of smaller plates for a table of two, for instance.
