I’m rejoicing! “Happy” is getting redefined. Happily of course! Contradictions are getting reconciled. Here’s how: Fine quality food at pocket-friendly prices… is being home delivered (Yes! You read it right). And my beautiful, slender, fitness conscious guest not only loves eating, eats a lot and here’s the best part, “works out so I can eat.” This beautiful, superhit, high-octane Amyra Dastur with brains continues to star not only in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films, but also international ones (including with Jackie Chan). Amyra’s Parsi gourmet genes, her love for Japanese and Thai food magnetizes her to order from Happy Thai Express regularly. Her shooting schedules are packed: From a psychological thriller in Tamil opposite Prabhudheva, a series with a popular online streaming platform and ambassador for three iconic brands.
It’s great to hear all about her exciting life, flooded with modelling roles at age 16, acted in her first film two years later, and right through her passions have been sashimi, spicy Delhi and Bangkok street food, travelling, dancing hip hop and Bollywood.
I love the fact that she’s not obsessive about being thin, eats when she feels like, sees a big connect between food and mood, too. And sure is in a happy mood in Happy Thai Express.
High On Thai
Tasty, fresh ingredients (sourced from the iconic Blue Elephant Bangkok, where the staff has been trained) coax authentic Thai flavors. Start with the vibrant refreshing Green Papaya Salad with the perfect moist kiss of tangy sweetness. Steamed edamame makes for the perfect munchy. The curries (green, yellow, Penang) have just the right depth of flavor, the perfect kiss of herbs and spices. Sparkled with holy basil, the Chicken Krapow is a must-try. As is the Chilly Beef. Vegetarians trip out on the Potato Chilly, the fleshy Aubergine Chilly, too. Plenty of authentic noodles (ask for the Pad Thai) and rice dishes, too (Teppan Yaki Rice comes up tops). As does the only Korean dish, grilled Tenderloin Bulgogi.
Quite the contrast to these intense flavors is the translucent, delicate Salmon Sashimi, Tuna Sashimi made to popular taste with the Peruvian twist. Plenty of sushi options: Crunchy Prawn Tempura Roll is a must-try. Vegetarians, there’s plenty for you.
