Foxtrot – House of Subculture, Koramangala 3rd Block, Bangalore: Decor
They call it a House of Subculture and this edition of Foxtrot is styled on the lines of a frat house — a collection of spaces exuding different vibes and moods. There’s an open terrace on the ground floor and stairways lead to rooms done up in various, mostly quirky styles. I ate in a large room with bright eye flower prints covering a wall and vintage printed cushions promising comfort.
Foxtrot – House of Subculture, Koramangala 3rd Block, Bangalore: Food
There was a Himalayan food festival going on when I went here for dinner.
We ordered the Ghale Style Chicken Momos from the special menu. They arrived steaming-hot and with a tasty stuffing, accompanied by spicy dipping sauces. We then had the Scotch Eggs from the streets of Lucknow, which is an interesting meeting of East and West. The mince was flavored with kebab spices — the Lucknowi connection — and coated in a golden crumb. The egg had a soft center and when sliced, the yolk became a golden pool melding with the polenta that accompanied the dish. I liked also the fresh greens that were on the plate. The other main course I tasted was the Wild Mushroom Risotto, which was a perfect portion, packed with shiitake, black fungus, porcini and button mushrooms, with the slightest hint of wine. The texture was lovely and the dish wasn’t overpowered by butter or cheese, allowing the earthiness of the mushrooms to shine through. We wrapped up our meal with a generous wedge of Caramel Sponge Cake — just the thing for a cold Bengaluru night. Sticky, sweet and warm, it was comforting as only old-fashioned puddings can be. Foxtrot shakes up an array of cocktails. My companion had the somewhat raunchily titled El Orgasmo — Bourbon, cream, hazel nut and espresso syrups — and enjoyed it.

I enjoyed excellent service here. I’d asked for the two main courses we ordered to be brought one after the other, and they came to the table, precisely timed.
Foxtrot – House of Subculture, Koramangala 3rd Block, Bangalore: Plus & Minus
The food and drinks were delightful. The music choices, not so.
