Fox In The Field, Whitefield, Bangalore : Revisited [24/02/2023]
It was a Friday evening and Fox in the Field was buzzing. There were customers waiting for tables, many on the open terrace, the most preferred space at this multi-level microbrewery in Nexus Shantiniketan Mall. Large corporate groups were making much noise, while couples seemed to be managing date night amidst the crowd. It was a scene that made me feel happy, knowing how businesses such as this one had struggled, teetering on the edge during the difficult days of lockdown.
My companion had a pint of Hefeweizen – the Fox brews some good quality beers – while I settled for a gin cocktail. It needed tweaking and the friendly bartenders allowed me behind the counter to do just that. The food menu here is eclectic; think everything from Naan Pops to Bruschetta, Dilli Masala Pizza and Madras Style Mutton Fry.
We decided to eat what Asian fare was on the menu, beginning with the Korean Spiced Roast Pork Belly.
The meat was tender, the sauce glazing it rich and flavourful and the dish came together nicely. Next, it was Butter Garlic Prawns. You can’t really go wrong with this one; after all, it’s an abundance of butter with garlic to perk things up. The sauce was delightful. The dish would have been superlative with better quality seafood.
We wrapped up with a main course order of Egg Fried Rice and Chicken in a Black Bean Sauce. These hit the spot as only Indian Chinese food can at the end of an evening of drinking.
Fox in the Field has a Chiara Cakery counter now and we wanted to check it out. We ordered a Banana Chocolate Slice.
It wasn’t bad, but would have been vastly improved if it hadn’t been served frozen.
I was pleasantly surprised by the service. It was commendably quick and efficient, given theplace was packed.
Fox in the Field serves Whitefield and its vicinity well. You can go here assured of having a fun evening, especially on the weekend.
