This neat chocolate boutique, present at ITC Windsor and ITC Gardenia, has a quiet air about it, allowing you to commune with cocoa without too many distractions. The black-and-white chequered floor and gleaming surfaces create a pleasant ambience and the displays are designed to seduce.

Having discovered Fabelle recently, I would say without hesitation that you can forget your favorite Belgian brand; the very best chocolates are being made right here. Crafted using cocoa from the most renowned cocoa-growing regions of the world, these definitely take the chocolate-tasting experience into another realm. I love the perfect, little oblongs of ganache — milk, dark and flavors like apple-cinnamon, which has subtle hints of fruit and spice infused into the impossibly smooth and intense chocolate. These pieces of chocolate can also be paired with select teas or coffees to enhance the pleasure of letting them melt on your tongue.
Here, you can also order chocolate cups, which are miniature chocolate shells — each weighing precisely three grams I was told — with a rich filling and a sprinkle or topping. Choose from fillings such as choco cream and coffee or caramel and sea salt to custom-make your own cups. Kids get to have them decorated with their favourite cartoon characters.
On my early visits, I would normally indulge in the ganache and a chocolate cup or two, feeling contented and arriving in happy chocolate heaven with that. Later, I was tempted to order the Salted Caramel Ganache and guiltily made my way through the ganache of dark Ghana chocolate, complemented with salted caramel and finished with a tart berry coulis and creamy coconut sorbet. It was decadent and delicious, and also pretty as a picture on the plate.
While the exotic chocolate desserts and the smaller versions, the entremets, can only be an occasional indulgence, I could make quite a habit of the hot chocolate that Fabelle has earned such a reputation for. My pick of the options would be the Milk Cocoa. It’s velvet-like, sweetened just right and has chunks of pistachio-almond nougat and mini marshmallows bobbing about in it, making this a big mug of comfort and warmth, just perfect for this season.
I’d recommend Fabelle also for a luxury chocolate gift; the Gianduja is flawless and there’s an Elements range — earth, air, water, wood and fire, the last having a filling of white mousse inflected with ancho chilli and candied mango.
