Delhi’s nightlife scene has a favourite haunt every new season. Open-air bars and restaurants that became really hot before last lockdown, are still very much the chosen way to party. The trend can be seen with Diablo, a Mediterranean bar in Mehrauli, being “the flavour” of this party season. Check anyone’s social media timelines over the weekend and one of the most popular locations shared will be that of Diablo. The Devil’s Den, as it is called, has partygoers well and truly under its spell right now.

It started with a bang, though within the first few weeks of opening doors, pandemic struck the city and it had to shut shop. It reopened, picked steam and just when it was gaining momentum, the second wave again forced it to shut. The recent reopening seems to have worked some miracle for this high energy bar though. It is running packed weekend after weekend. The outdoor area with charming white exteriors, island bar and well spread seating and vibrant indoor spaces are buzzing at night. As the weather improves, Diablo will also become a popular brunch destination. Regular gigs, specially innovative electronic music nights and themed nights for sneakerheads with pop-ups are attracting a whole new set of crowd for the place. We went there on a busy Saturday night and most people were seen ordering straight drinks or shots. What one would suggest is to reach early when the bartenders are relatively free and try their interesting signature cocktails, such as Gabriel that is a heady mix of turmeric gin, saffron milk, mango puree and lime or The gospel that has whiskey, strawberry puree, mint leaves, lime juice (₹675 each) and sangrias (₹575 each). Grilled Middle Eastern starters and main course dishes served piping hot taste perfect with their drinks during a night out.

Don’t go to Diablo as a purist. This place has its own rules. Go there for the vibe and the music. It is one of the most buzzing nightlife spaces in town.
