Coco – Sushi & Bar, Mundhwa, Pune: DECOR
An all-black interior (barring the floor) with walls lined with twinkling lights, plush chairs and a stunning view of the cityscape, it’s one of the best looking clubs in the city. The 3,000-sqft restaurant and club on the 12th floor of Onyx building in Koregaon Park Annexe is a great spot to go, for drinks and dinner to dancing.
Coco – Sushi & Bar, Mundhwa, Pune: FOOD
The name of the club might highlight sushi, but there are plenty of other options to choose from as well. If you really like sushi, the Crackling Spinach Sushi Rolls with sweet corn kernels and coated with crisp-fried spinach dust, and the Coco Dragon Roll – their take on a rainbow roll with crab meat, crisp duck skin, are both decent. The Salmon Nigiri, on the other hand, was shoddily pressed and fell apart as soon you picked up. There are dumplings – of which, the usually safe Edamame and Truffle Dumplings stuffed edamame paste left a weird, unappetising aftertaste. The Prawn and Chives Dumplings fared much better in comparison. On a side note, the dumplings served here are tiny, and quite a contrast from what you’ll see in their professionally shot pictures.
Of the other options, the Peking Duck Roll, though, a tad dry, was spot-on in terms of flavors. Wish they served that delicious plum sauce on the side as well. Some of the good picks of the night were the Vietnamese Spring Rolls bursting with fresh vegetables and the Crispy Konjee Sliced Lamb. If you are here for drinks, the cocktails menu is still work-in-progress, but the spirits list won’t disappoint.
Coco – Sushi & Bar, Mundhwa, Pune: PLUS AND MINUS
The club / restaurant is stunning, definitely a place worth exploring if you are looking for new options. The service can be iffy on club nights, especially weekend. The food, while not disappointing, isn’t anything to write
home about. The prices are economical.
