Based out of Briju’s home in Forest Trails, Bhugaon, Briju’s Patisserie offers an impressive range of products including celebration cakes, artisanal chocolates, brownies and other baked goods, desserts tubs, sourdough bread, jams and marmalades along with many other things. Packaging:
After a brief illness last week, this week I decided to order something comforting and indulgent as a pick-me-up. Having sampled some of their dessert tubs previously, Briju’s Patisserie was my obvious choice. After a brief back and forth with Briju on WhatsApp, I pre-ordered a range of products. The food was delivered on time as promised and was packed impeccably. Everything was packed neatly in paper boxes and there was no spillage. The dessert tubs were sealed properly and the shape of the dessert was intact. Labels on the boxes denoting the items would have been helpful.
Briju’s Patisserie, Bhugaon, Pune: Food
While Briju’s Patisserie doesn’t have a fixed menu, they offer a wide range of products ranging from celebration cakes and artisanal chocolates to savory curry buns and stuffed baos. After checking with Briju on the products available on the menu, I ordered a bunch of items which were delivered a day later, freshly made. The Korean buns were the first thing we tried. The buns were perfect in size, they were filled with a smooth cream cheese filling topped with burnt garlic. These were absolutely incredible. The other savory item we ordered was the Japanese kare pan or curry bread. Stuffed with a mixed vegetable curry filling, the curry buns were crumb fried beautifully. The filling was delicious and the buns were crunchy from the outside and the soft from inside. Among the dessert tubs, we tried the tiramisu, black forest and cherry cheesecake tubs. The tiramisu was tasty and the flavours were spot on, but the smoothness of the mascarpone was missing. The black forest tub was delicious, indulgent and sinful. But my personal favourite was the cherry cheesecake. As this was a dessert tub, the cheesecake consistency was slightly gooey, which made it better than a cake. In the tub, the graham cracker base was topped with the cream cheese and sour cream mixture and topped generously with sweetened cherries. From the assortment of brownies, my top picks were the plain dark chocolate, granola topped and black forest. The brownies were slightly dry and I would have preferred them a bit gooey. Briju emphasizes that she uses only couverture chocolate and it is evident from the taste and the quality of her products.
Plus & Minus:
Almost everything we ordered from Briju’s Patisserie was excellent. The fact that it was specially made fresh to order elevated the quality and taste. I am waiting eagerly to order their bonbons which they introduce on special occasions. The process of ordering can be improved and made more efficient with a fixed menu or regular social media updates.
