Angithi By Mirch Masala, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad: Decor
Angithi has replaced Dhoom Dhaam, the modern Indian restaurant by the same owners. It carries forward the decor that has Indian traditional elements in a contemporary setting. Since this restaurant specializes in food made on the angithi, traditional space-heating and cooking stoves, there are photos and models of different variations of the angithi braziers on display at different parts of the restaurant.
Angithi By Mirch Masala, Bodakdev, Ahmedabad: Food
The street specials is an interesting section of the menu that has modern versions of popular street foods. The aloo laccha tikki, vada pao,Raj kachori, masala dahi bhalla, papdi chaat and pani puri are among the hot favorites. Ratalu nariyal pattice from Surat and Jodhpuri mirchi vada are the other stars on the menu. Those who like cheese will like the onion cheese chaska.
The smoky bhatti ka paneer, vegetarian version of the melt-in-your-mouth galauti kebab and the delicate dahi ke kebab are excellent starters. The tandoori stuffed mushrooms is a robust starter for those who like mushrooms.
The abre chaman is one of their signature dishes. Subz jalfrazie, patiyala kofta and angoori kofta are other house specials. Since this is another thoroughbred from the stable of Mirch Masala, Angithi has maintained using khada masalalike the palak khada masala, paneer khurchan, lasuni makai palak and subz bhuna masala.
They also have popular North Indian favourites like palak paneer and paneer butter masala. Some of these are available as combo meals. Don’t miss the delectable buttery and earthy dal makhani. For those seeking local flavours, the palak fada khichdi with kadhiis very good. They also serve vegetarian dhansak on weekends.
End with their kesar pista phirni or the baked gulab jamun with rabri.
Plus & Minus:
This is a restaurant with three vegetarian menus – one for Jain-friendly dishes, one for popular street-foods and one for North Indian mains, almost everything here is very good. Though this is a North Indian specialty restaurant, Angithi has provided a kid’s menu with macaroni and pizza.
