When I needed gifts to carry while traveling to meet friends didn’t have to think too hard. Anand Sweets is always top of the mind when it comes to mithai, whether to indulge yourself or to share.

So, I ordered in an array of the brand’s signature sweets. They came in pretty boxes that had a festive touch to them. Anand Sweets evokes a lot of nostalgia for me. Remember the small store on Commercial Street where you stopped for chaat and a cold badam milk after a shopping spree?

The brand has seen phenomenal growth since then, with outlets spread across the city and a hugely expanded list of sweets and savouries. While modernizing Anand Sweets has, remarkably, kept its Indianness and connection with tradition intact.

So, you can order a tin of beautifully crafted Baklava now and also rely on this brand for some of the best Motichoor Laddoo and Ajmeri Kalakand. The Laddoo, moist, ghee-rich and sweetened just right is one my favourites. The Kaju Katli is a ubiquitous sweet; Anand Sweets’ version is extra special. Another popular offering is the biscotti-inspired Badamika. Now, there’s also Pistamika and Chocomika. These crunchy bites studded with nuts are a delight. The savouries such as Methi Matri, Agra Dalmoth, Dry Samos and Dry Fruit Kachori are all made from high quality ingredients and make excellent anytime snacks. More recently I’ve discovered the South Indian range that includes Kara Seedai and spicy Rajapalyam Sev.

You can also stop by at an Anand Sweets outlet for Matar Kachori, Sev Puri or a satisfying Chola Bhatura, not forgetting a still-warm Gulab Jamun.
