Millers Homebar & Kitchen is an all-day diner and bar, located at The Mills. The Mills, near the railway station, is a communal space that has been developed at the historic Raja Bahadur Mills and houses restaurants, galleries, offices and coworking spaces. Sadly during the lockdown, some of the popular restaurants were shut. But with the reopening of The Millers Homebar, after a brief hiatus, the Mills has started buzzing with activity again.

Millers Homebar & Kitchen, Bund Garden Road, Pune: Decor

The Millers is spread over a large space and occupies a prominent place at The Mills. The alfresco section is spacious and the seating is interspersed with plants. The seating is a comfortable mix of highchairs with different designs and casual wooden chairs. I just wish they had more fans as it did get quite hot, particularly with this October heat. The indoor section is beautifully designed and houses the bar. The seating is uber comfortable with upholstered, accent chairs and leather sofas. The outdoor section has a fun, hip and infectious vibe perfect for a night out with friends and the indoor section is lounge-y and comfortable right for a relaxed time throughout the day or great for working during the day too.

Food:

The menu is very interesting and tells the story of the Millers family and each section is represented by different members of the family. Both the food and bar menus are quite elaborate with a wide variety of options. We tried a range of their classic and signature cocktails and the bartender was sweet enough to make customization to our drinks. The house star martini, garden julep, Tom Collins and margarita were our top picks. The food menu is curated to include dishes that don’t need long descriptions of the ingredients. With our drinks, we called for seven appetizers and starters. The house nachos bowl was a scrumptious, large bowl-shaped tortilla filled with salsa, beans, cheese and guacomole. The perfect accompaniment to our drinks. The cheese burst cigars lived up to their name. The sweet chilli dipping sauce was equally good and paired well with the cigars. zaitooni paneer tikka was marinated and grilled perfectly but lacked the signature olive flavour. We followed these with two excellent non-vegetarian dishes. The sukkha mutton kosha was tasty, the masala was intense and the flavours were well developed. The cook on the mutton was uneven as some pieces were cooked perfectly, some were under. The skewered satay chicken was absolutely cracking. The chicken was succulent, well-cooked, charred perfectly and tasted even better with the accompanying creamy peanut sauce. We ended our appetizers with the Mediterranean flatbread which was thin and The crunchy. The flatbread was topped with roasted bell peppers, olives and cheese and was drizzled with a balsamic glaze. After those satiating appetizers, we picked two nobrainers for mains – penne Alfredo and butter chicken. The butter chicken was creamy, lightly smokey, but slightly sweet. While that is the way I like it, some people will find it a bit sweet. The butter chicken is served as a combo with a choice of roti, naan or rice. The dessert menu is short and we got the Nutella cold cheesecake. The no-bake, chilled cheesecake was creamy and topped with oodles of Nutella.

Plus & Minus:

The vibe and ambience at The Millers is fun and infectious. With live music and weekly gigs, this place is perfect for an evening of drinking with friends. Some additional ventilation in the outdoor section is highly recommended. The food and drinks menu complement each other. The staff is courteous and friendly.
