MoMo Cafe: Courtyard By Marriott, Hinjawadi, Pune: Food
MoMo Cafe offers a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner along with an a la carte menu that has some classic Indian, Pan-Asian and Italian dishes. Currently, they offer the buffet on select days when the number of guests staying at the hotel is high. I have had their buffet previously and it has been consistently great since the time they launched back in 2009. The variety of dishes offered, the taste and prompt service have always impressed me. This time, I decided to try the a la carte menu. We started with the delightful wild mushroom and thyme soup which was subtly spiced and umami. It was served with a slice of garlic focaccia. The Greek salad bowl looked vibrant with cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, olives and feta cheese, was seasoned right and tasted fresh. But it was slightly overpowered by the bell peppers. Among the appetizers, we tried the hare silbatte ki tikki and on our server’s recommendation also got the almond-crusted chicken tenders. The tikki was a little undercooked. The chicken tenders were golden-fried to perfection. The almond crust added the additional crunch and the chicken was soft and succulent. The peri-peri mayo was the perfect sauce with the tenders. Probably the best dish we tried from the menu, this one is highly recommended. The deli section looked very interesting. We tried the CY club sandwich which was a humungous three-layered sandwich generously filled with chicken, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese. The sandwich was messy to eat but absolutely delicious. The menu mentioned bacon, which was sadly missing. From the mains, we could not resist and picked the purani Dilli inspired butter chicken. The chicken chunks were smoked and they added a nice smokey flavour and the gravy was creamy and balanced. The flaky laccha paratha paired well with the butter chicken.
Plus & Minus:
Right from making a table reservation to greeting us at the receptions, the hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The restaurant staff was helpful and the service was prompt. Hopefully, the daily buffet, which is a great VFM option for breakfast, lunch and dinner, will start soon.
