Hyatt Regency Ahmedabad: Food
At the time of writing, since dine-in has been disallowed, their specialties can be ordered home. They excel in Italian and Mediterranean food like the Lombardian lamb Ossobucco with creamy polenta, which is fragrant and tasty with tender meat. Greek-style baked sole with potatoes is another of their specials. For vegetarians, they have lasagna and risotto. North Indian, Pan-Asian and some Gujarati regional dishes are also part of the menu.
Since this is Ramadhan-time, I decided to order the Iftar feast box. The box was smart-looking with colorful images suggesting a feast. Inside, the box had neatly packed recyclable boxes.
I started with the manda samosa which had minced meat filled in a roti-like pastry called manda, rather similar to what you get in the shops of Mirzapur and Khas Bazaar. The sili gosht which has meat on a stick was well-made and the succulent sina kebab had well-marinated breast of chicken stuffed with spices and chicken. The box had Nargisi kebab which is like a scotch egg. The dum biryani with chicken was not bad. The box also had dates and fruits, aam panna and mouth freshener. The dessert was moong dal ka halwa, which was similar to what you get in the old halwa shops of the walled city. The menu is curated by ‘Historicul’ to represent the traditional favorites of many historical Muslim families.
For vegetarians, the non-vegetarian dishes were replaced by sabz galouti, veg seekh and paneer kathi roll, vegetarian biryani and patti samosa.
The quantity was sumptuous and most of the items were pretty good.
