Teluguness, Madhapur, Hyderabad: Decor

The interiors showcase the rural lifestyle of the Telugu states and are quite eye-popping. Rustic doors and windows are used as props and Pochampally fabric is used for the drapes and upholstery. The place is dotted with potted plants, the walls are adorned with paintings depicting a village atmosphere and hanging pendant lighting has given this place a native and homely feel. With soft instrumental music playing in the background, ambient lighting, and comfortable seating, this place definitely knows how to make guests feel warm and comfortable.

Food:

Like its name, Teluguness serves typical Telugu food i.e. cuisine from Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema, apart from a few north Indian and Chinese dishes. The menu is quite huge, but the description of the dishes was missing. One can begin their meal with a shorva (soup). The kodi (chicken) shorva is a chicken-flavoured broth infused with spices and served hot. You can follow it with makka jonna (corn) garelu, mamsam (lamb) ghee vepudu and Kurnool kodi (chicken) pakodi. The garelu and pakodi were appetizing but tad spicy, while the Lamb dish was a bit chewy and low on seasoning.Do try their stuff aloo kebab and nimmakai chepa seekulu, which are delicious. Those who would like to try a bit of everything and have a big appetite, can opt for the non-veg platter.

For the main course, there are lots of options in both veg and non-veg, apart from wholesome combos. From the biryani and pulao section,we tried the gongura mamsam pulao, Teluguness special kodi biryani and pulao of the day — kobbari kodi pulao (Coconut flavor). One can also try jeedipappu puttagodugu kura (Kaju and mushroom), mamsam kheema methi kura (Mutton), natukodi pulusu (country chicken) which can be had with plain rice or roti. Desserts section can be avoided. Overall, Teluguness serves decent food and is reasonably priced. It’s certainly worth checking out.
