The Creek: The Den Bengaluru, Whitefield, Bangalore – Decor

The Creek is the all-day restaurant at The Den in Whitefield. Like the rest of the hotel, its design is minimalist with earthy elements and a restrained use of colour. The spacious restaurant opens onto the patio with a water feature that gives the place its name. This sun-lit space is a pleasant spot to while away the hours over Sunday brunch with family when it buzzes with live stations and activities for children.

The Creek: The Den Bengaluru, Whitefield, Bangalore – Food

The restaurant has become increasingly popular for its Sunday brunch, drawing Whitefield families. Often, the brunch is wrapped around a theme. I went in November when Children’s Day celebrations were continuing, there was a massive Dora wandering about shaking hands with the kids.

It’s a vast spread here with cuisines from across the world. Some of the things I tasted and enjoyed were Chicken Dim Sum, Palak Patta Chaat from the chaat counter, juicy Pork Chops from the grills. Yes, it was a medley of a meal, but that’s how it goes at brunch with so much choice. At my table we also had Noodle Soup from the Oriental counter and Appams and Chicken Stew. The stew was creamy and nice, but the appams fell short of excellence. I also think Maki Rolls are best left to specialty restaurants.

Given the theme, many of the desserts were made to appeal to young diners with an abundance of sprinkles and M&Ms. I had some gorgeous profiteroles and a taste of warm, sweet Umali, the Middle Eastern bread pudding.

At the Creek brunch, you can order cocktails – gin cocktails were the specialty of the month with a trolley doing the rounds – drink sparkling wine or Champagne with GH Mumm being the house pour.

Service:

The Den service team sets high standards and they were at their best during this Sunday brunch.

Plus & Minus:

The setting is pleasant and the spread is vast, though quality rather than quantity is the focus at this hotel. The live band didn’t quite hit the right note.
