Over the Top is an alfresco rooftop restaurant and bar at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Hinjawadi.

Located on the terrace, the space offers expansive views of the Hinjawadi landscape. The outdoor section is set by a swimming pool which adds charm to the space. The seating is a mix of regular chairs and tables and leather sofas and low tables. Low, ambient lighting compliments the music played. Along with a regular DJ, they also have live gigs during the week. The setting is near perfect and ticks all the boxes for being the right spot for a relaxed evening with friends, colleagues or family.

The moment we settled down for the evening, the bartender Sourabh greeted us with a moving trolley of drinks. He asked us our spirit preferences and immediately got to mixing cocktails right by the table. He promptly made us a pineapple daiquiri which was not on the menu, which added a personal touch. We followed this with a round of the blissfully potent beverage. They served us the currently in trend karari roti which was the perfect accompaniment with the drinks.
The food menu is cleverly put together to complement the bar menu. It features an array of appetizers and grills along with pizzas. We started with the Japanese fried prawns. The panko crumbed and deep fried prawns were perfectly crispy and were served with a wasabi flavored aioli. On our server’s recommendation, we tried a range of kebabs. The paneer Peshawari tikka was stuffed with nuts, spiced mildly and perfectly grilled. Both the chicken kebabs, murg hariyali kabab and Afghani chicken tikka were delicious and definitely two of the best dishes on the menu. The Afghani tikka was grilled with spices and nuts and the fresh coriander and mint flavors of the Hariyali tikka were on point.
Beyond the appetizers, we tried the crispy mushroom bao. Though the mushroom filling was tasty and the baos were steamed well, the bao to filling ratio was way off. We would have preferred slightly smaller baos and more mushroom filling. The mains section is limited and we picked the popular fish and chips. Beer battered basa fillets, deep fried, were served with chips and mushy peas. The fried fish tasted good, but was too oily for our liking. But the mushy peas were an excellent addition and salvaged the dish.
We couldn’t resist ourselves and got two desserts. First was the red velvet cheese cake. The cheesecake was creamy and was served with a delightfully tart lemon curd. These opposite flavors worked very well together. The rum-flambéed gulab jamun was the best way to end the meal.
Plus & Minus:
With its rooftop and poolside setting and with music and food to match, Over the Top impresses. The staff is courteous and the service is prompt. The first thing which I noticed the moment I sat down was the use of polycarbonate glasses to serve drinks instead of glass which was slightly disappointing.
