Street Storyss, Indiranagar, Bangalore: Decor

This is a compact space done up in pleasing eggshell blue and white with patterned tiles on the floor. The tables are quite closely packed and you may find yourself overhearing conversations of other diners.

Street Storyss, Indiranagar, Bangalore: Food

The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon and I had to wait for over half an hour for a table. There is certainly a demand for all-vegetarian restaurants and that’s what Street Storyss is.

The menu is made up of Indian dishes that have been tweaked to give them a modern twist as also some Asian flavours. We started with one of the small plates. While it was called Avocado Mousse, this was only a little dollop on papdi. The mousse itself was more sour cream and lacking in avocado.

The Beetroot Carpaccio was a vibrant platter with thin slices of the vegetable, topped off with hung curd, walnuts and a citrus caramel dressing. The Thai Corn Cake, squares of creamy corn curd fried to acquire a crusty exterior and scattered with fried garlic, came with a tasty, tangy dip and I enjoyed it very much.

For main course, my companion had the Ghee Roast Soya Chaap with Satpura Paratha. The ghee roast masala wasn’t the real thing, but this was a satisfying dish and the paratha was nicely done. I relished my Rajma Ghee Khichdi, which the staff told me was an Indian take on risotto. In any case, it was warm, creamy, comforting.

The Frozen Coffee Malai we ordered for dessert, wasn’t frozen and ended up a runny plate of coffee and cream. I was told that’s how it was meant to be.

Service:

It was a busy afternoon for the staff, but we enjoyed efficient service

Plus & Minus:

A vegetarian restaurant that offers something different for vegetarians is a welcome addition to the eating out scene. Is it good enough that even non-vegetarians will enjoy the fare? Not quite.
