The spaces that Socials occupy have an unmistakably distinct style. At the Sarjapur Social, the latest addition to the chain in Bengaluru, the quirkiness and edgy aesthetic are on a much larger scale, given that it spreads across some 18,000-plus square feet. Leave the traffic and the chaos of Sarjapur Road, ascend to the 8th and 9th floors and find yourself in another world, one with a Great Gatsby theme. This Social has been created to imitate a billionaire’s mansion gone slightly to seed; curving stairways, opulent sofas and dazzling chandeliers all make a statement, as do the wall art and the rough-finished ceiling. I sat at the upper level amidst greenery, where several large corporate groups were out for after-work drinks. There’s a view, mostly of high-rise buildings.

The innovative cocktails Social is known for are all here. There’s the Deconstructed Moscow Mule and Longest Long Island Iced Tea — a potent concoction here, be warned. I had a Hot Shoddy with brandy, cinnamon and spices. It came in a bamboo tumbler and suited my sore throat very well. There’s an extensive coffee menu and you should try the Cold Brew.
One of my favorite things to eat at Social is Sid’s Very Posh Breakfast — the all-day breakfast is available till 7.30 pm — which is your classic bacon and eggs and toast with all the trimmings. It’s as good as ever at Sarjapur Social.
We had also the Classic Momos, which were unexceptional and Empanadas filled with veggies and feta from a special menu. The Egg Tikka from the kebab selection is a nice thing to eat with your beer. In a nod to local cuisine, Social also serves Gunpowder Baby Potatoes, Luru Prawns and Ghee Roast Chicken.
