BMG – Unplugged, Hadapsar, Pune: DECOR

The new gastro-pub on the first floor of Amanora Mall stands shimmering where the erstwhile Spaghetti Kitchen used to be. While additions and modifications have been made in terms of soft lighting, colorful furnishings, quirky wall art to ensure a more bar-like vibe; the burnt-orange tiled walls and pillars are still here. If you’re looking for fresh air, the alfresco works better. Special kudos for the ingenuity in making tables for two on the stairway that leads to the pantry.

BMG – Unplugged, Hadapsar, Pune: FOOD

BMG is an abbreviation for Be My Guest, and the good service ensures that you are happy to be there. The food menu, though not extremely novel, is enough to keep you in high spirits. Their spirits menu isn’t too shabby either. Of the house mixes, the Confused Infused, a bourbon based drink with apricot juice and star anise and a healthy dose of honey is a smooth operator. Beware; the sweet, fruity concoction with chunks of fruits masks the potency of the drink quite well. Other good options are the spiced rum and pineapple mix called Khufiya Shaana and a medley of whiskey and peaches called Jungle Me Mangal. Do try the Mushroom Galouti. Served on ulte tawe ka paratha, the finely grounded mushroom mince patties make for a good starter. For something potent, there is the Sharabi Tikka – tender malai chicken tikkas flambéed with rum. The taste, fortunately, matches the theatrics. Another good liquor and food pairing is the Bailey’s Prawns.Apparently, marinated with the coffee-based liqueur, what you get is plump, well-cooked prawns tossed with garlic and red chillies. It might be hard to taste the liqueur on this one, but it’s delicious enough to have you reaching for seconds. For fans of fusion, the Pav Bhaji Fondue is an easy, nonmessy way of eating the beloved street food. They also have a decent choice of mains, of which the Pindi Style Chola served with two leavened albeit super oily bhaturas and tart, spicy and flavorful cholle is a safe bet. The Kheema Kaleji served with kulcha, though, could have done with less sinewy mutton mince. The only evident letdown here was the lacklustre and doughy Farmhouse Pizza.

BMG – Unplugged, Hadapsar, Pune: PLUS AND MINUS

A good option to go for drinks in the area. The waitstaff is friendly yet attentive and the service is fast. The music played inside is loud enough to drown a conversation.
