Wild Thyme Kitchen & Rooftop, Sector 7, Chandigarh:
Recently opened around Christmas last-Wild Thyme is a cheerfully styled cafe serving specialties from around the world. The seating at this eatery, invitingly done in shades of aqua and yellow, is a-plenty; along the entrance walkway, indoors, in the courtyard, as well as, on their rooftop. The mood mirrors the menu; it is by and large Mediterranean,as indicated by the name, with a splash of Mexican rusticity in the patio out back, punctuated with lots of welcome greenery. I hear much of their fresh produce is organic and comes from a family-owned farm.
Wild Thyme Kitchen & Rooftop, Sector 7, Chandigarh: Food
I’ve popped by at Wild Thyme more than once since they opened-for a hot cuppa and dessert on a wintery afternoon, a leisurely spring lunch, and lately for a celebratory meal with family with eclectic taste buds. Our order that day looked somewhat like this: Wild Mushroom Croffle, Avocado Toast, and Pear Salad as starters, Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli, Fish & Chips, Grilled Chicken, Chicken Piccata, Green and Red Thai Curries, and a couple of Pizzas Greek Goodness, Peppy Paneer-thrown in for good measure. All of this washed down with lime sodas, virgin mojitos, spiced guava coolers, tiramisu shakes and beer. The meal was finished off with Torched Banana Waffles and Nutella Cookie in a Skillet.
Plus & Minus:
On earlier visits, I had found the food consistently good, well-plated, the portions substantial, and service courteous. It was no different this time-the starters were excellent (despite a preference for textured guacamole over creamy), the fish and chips was marvelous, and the previously over-buttered piccata had righted itself most appetizingly. Of the pizzas, I couldn’t get enough of the veggie-topped Greek Goodness, and it wasn’t even my order! The tiramisu shake was a hit across ages,as were the desserts. Personally, I think the fresh-baked skillet cookie and ice-cream could be habit-forming. Do go, if you haven’t already.
