Twisty Tails, Nungambakkam, Chennai: Decor

The single most important feature of Twisty Tails, both in Nungambakkam and Anna Nagar is the fact that they have pets that guests can pet and spend time with. At a cost of Rs. 200, which you can redeem when you order food, you get to pet the eager, cutest, lively puppies or, if you’re a cat person, you could pet some lazy, languid cats.

New, the Anna Nagar branch is a shinier and brighter than the one in Nungambakkam. White chairs, blue walls with waves and framed precious pet pictures make the decor quite lively. The pets themselves are kept in different enclosures, and have dedicated people to care for them, something that is evident when you visit. Sometimes, a pet can take to you and will let you hold him / her in your lap and stroke his well-groomed fur. Some of them actually perform for you. But it all depends on their moods.

Not really the focus right now, the food is a mix of different cuisine. So, you could order whatever suits your palate. The Chocolate Hazelnut Shake is presented in a disposable glass with a dome-shaped lid and a straw sticking out. Hazelnut and chocolate are a winning combination.

Chilly Crispy Corn is chilli spiced enough, but not as crisp as expected. However, it does deliver as far as taste and texture are concerned. Because the com is not fried to a crisp, it is not dry.

Majestic Paneer means paneer chunks and com flour coated and deep fried, tossed in curds and turmeric. They arrive at the table warm and yellow with green from curry leaves and capsicum. Ginger garlic, as always, add familiar touches.

The Vegetable Biryani is a Dum Biryani. Thankfully, there is very little kevda, and the spice levels are manageable.

The thin-crusted Garden Veggie Pizza comes loaded with veggies and a few basil leaves sitting on top. Red and yellow bell peppers peep through the mozzarella cheese and generous dusting of chilli flakes and oregano seasoning.

I end with a Hola Nutella Pancake. Happily

Those cute little pets are definitely a highlight Cute, trusting and so loving, they can be stress busters at any time of the day. At Nungambakkam, the water situation does need looking into. After petting those cuties, one does need to wash up well.
